THEME:

The exhibit will explore the origins and impact of, and/or the routes to change regarding trafficking in humans for sex slavery as it is occurring in present time. “Origins” may mean speculation upon the roots of the phenomenon, including demand, images and expectations of women in popular culture, spiritual factors, sexual mythologies, etc. “Impact” may mean emotional, economic, psychic, physical, spiritual, social, aesthetic or any other consequence the artist perceives. “Routes to change” may mean hope to create a world in which human beings are not bought and sold. Artists are expected to inform themselves on some aspect of the phenomenon (please see the links on this page for resources) in order to create relevant art.
